Location Features
Foz do Sousa is a Portuguese locality in the municipality of Gondomar, with an area of 19.07 km² and 6,054 inhabitants (2011)[1]. Its population density is 317.5 inhabitants/km².
It belonged to the municipality of Aguiar de Sousa before moving to the municipality of Gondomar. [2]
It was the seat of a parish extinct in 2013, as part of a national administrative reform, to, together with Covelo, form a new parish called União das Freguesias de Foz do Sousa e Covelo of which it is the headquarters. [3]
Foz do Sousa is also known for its famous artificial water waterfalls.

2) THE FUTURE – 100,000 Trees Project: in the Metropolitan Area of Porto it advances, on January 31st, to another planting area, this time in the municipality of Gondomar. The new area, in the parish of Foz do Sousa, will receive 800 native trees, namely beech, ash, laurel, elm, chestnut and padreiro. These species will contribute to densify the area with native species in order to promote biodiversity and promote the services that native forests can provide to the entire region. It is a planned and coordinated effort of several organizations and citizens with the aim of planting 100 thousand native trees in burnt areas, free or in need of reconversion in the territory of the Porto Metropolitan Area. Enriching biodiversity, sequestering carbon, improving air quality, protecting soils and contributing to a better quality of life for people is the main objective. In Gondomar, the goal is to plant 4300 trees.
